Everton may look into signing some free agents in the market.

The transfer window has opened and we have already been treated to the sagas of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gabriel. Everton have activated their sixth gear, moving fast to get deals over the line. However, spending a mega amount of money won’t be possible and every club will aim to target the pool of free agents. Some of the biggest names like Edinson Cavani, Thiago Silva, Ryan Fraser, Mario Gotze, Jan Vertonghen are open to free transfers and Everton must consider some of them.

We won’t be talking about Thiago Silva as he has been linked to the Toffees already. We take a look at other free agents who Everton must attempt to bring to Goodison Park.

1. Mario Gotze

Mario Gotze decided to leave Borussia Dortmund by mutual consent at the end of this season. The German is now a free agent and on the hunt for a new challenge after spending his entire career in Germany so far.

A Premier League voyage may be the perfect challenge he may be looking for. Even though Gotze hasn’t been consistent in the last couple of seasons at Dortmund, particularly because of the lack of game time, the 28 year old still has the ability to shine at the top.

The ‘German Messi’ as they call him is transitioning from a forward to a midfielder and can massively help Everton. He may not be the Idrissa Gueye type of midfielder but can create chances and add some creativity to a dormant midfield.

Mario Gotze will be a handy option to have in the squad with the German being able to play in the attack as a striker, behind the striker, in attacking midfield, as a number 10 and even as a false nine.
