Everton may miss out on Wilfried Zaha as PSG, Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco enter the chase.

Every summer transfer window we see news circulating around Europe that Wilfried Zaha wants to leave Crystal Palace. Everton has had a serious interest in signing Zaha for the last couple of transfer windows. This window is no different with Wilfried Zaha links flying around. However, European heavyweights PSG and Dortmund are also in the fray, making it complicated for Everton to strike a deal.

The Toffees were put off by £80 million asking price last summer but were relieved to see him being available for £30 million this time around. Arsenal cooled off their pursuit after getting their hands on free agent Willian, leaving Everton the only potential suitors. An attempt to sign Zaha would be on the cards once the deal regarding Allan is finalized and the fate of Gabriel Magalhaes will be known.

According to Sky Sports, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco have shown interest in signing the Ivory Coast international. Now that Everton knows that they are not the only club in the chase, will it be a daunting task to lure Zaha?

Yes. Because two of these three clubs linked offer something that Everton can never in the near future. European football. PSG and Dortmund are set to play in next year’s Champions League. Wilfried Zaha has pressed from time to time that he wants to leave Crystal Palace with mid table mindset and join a team that plays in Europe or at least has European ambitions.

This is surely worrying news for the Toffees as there are two bigger clubs that can easily cater to Zaha’s needs. However, when thought carefully, Wilfried Zaha may not be a regular for any of these teams. PSG have a strike force of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Mauro Icardi with Angel Di Maria and Pablo Sarabia waiting in the wings. Zaha may not be able to get the desired playing time at Parc des Princes.

There’s a similar situation at Borussia Dortmund as well. Lucien Favre has Jadon Sancho, Thorgan Hazard, Jude Bellingham and Renier Jesus on loan making the competition tougher than ever for the starting role.

At Everton, that is not the case. Wilfried Zaha is better than almost everyone available at the wings. Theo Walcott, Bernard and Alex Iwobi don’t come close to what Wilfried Zaha can bring to the table.

If Marcel Brands does want to deliver Zaha to Everton he will have to work extremely hard to fend off the interest from Monaco, PSG and BVB. The only thing that plays in favour of the Toffees is the role and squad importance that they can offer to Wilfried Zaha.
