LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 16: Gylfi Sigurdsson of Everton looks on during the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Everton and Salford City at Goodison Park on September 16, 2020 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Alex Livesey – Danehouse/Getty Images) /

Gylfi Sigurdsson finally had a good day on the Everton shirt.

Tom Davies (Defensive midfield) 7

Looked a bit more assured against lower-level opposition. Got forward well and seemed to feel more confident in the 4-3-3. Came close to scoring in the first half with a shot that just skipped past the far post. Tom Davies looked like a confident player for the most part of the game, something that was missing last season.

With the arrivals of Doucoure and Allan, he is not expected to be a starter for the team but a balanced performance like this will get him some minutes in the league as well.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Central midfield) 8

Set up Keane’s goal with a great cross and should have had another assist with a cross that Kean headed against the crossbar, when it was easier for him to score. Was in the right place at the right time to score the second goal, which was his 100th in English football. Gylfi Sigurdsson played 20 odd minutes against Spurs but didn’t look very comfortable. But yesterday, the Iceman was calm and looked in control.

Bernard (Central midfield) 7

A solid and aggressive match for the Brazilian, who seemed to have been taking lessons from his countryman Allan as he hunted for the ball and put in some strong defensive work, especially in the first half.
