Napoli willing to let Everton target leave on a free transfer on one condition
Napoli is willing to let Everton target Nikola Maksimovic leave on a free transfer.
Ever since Carlo Ancelotti has arrived at Everton, the talks of reunification with his players at his former clubs seem to be endless. The Italian is reunited with Allan from Napoli and James Rodriguez from Real Madrid. The Toffees have been linked with Hirving Lozano and Nikola Maksimovic from Napoli and chances are that the Naples side will let the Serb leave on a free transfer.
Napoli is facing issues in the renewal of Maksimovic’s contract. The long standing dispute is regarding the wages. Nikola Maksimovic is in the final year of his contract and talks had begun between his agent Fali Ramadani and Napoli hierarchy. Despite several meetings between the player’s entourage and the club, negotiations have hit a dead end.
As mentioned, the issue is of the annual salary that Nikola Maksimovic is demanding. The Serb wants an annual monetary package of €2.8 million on a four year deal. This will be a total salary of €11.2 million. The common opinion among Napoli owners is that it is not worth investing such a huge amount in a player who will turn 29 in November and has not been a consistent part of the team.
According to CalcioNapoli24, Napoli is not very keen to surrender to Maksimovic’s demands especially considering his age and the value degradation after four years.

Napoli may consider allowing Nikola Maksimovic to leave on a free transfer but on one condition. Not exactly a condition, but Napoli would only allow him to leave on a free transfer at the end of this season.
Nikola Maksimovic has been a name linked to Everton but and if he is available on a free transfer next season should the Toffees consider him? I’d say No. Had it been this season, Maksimovic is worth considering especially after the double injury blow to central defenders Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite.
Everton need immediate reinforcements in the central defence. Nikola Maksimovic isn’t a player in whom you can invest and expect a good resale value as he is on the cusp of hitting the age of 30. Plus, the Serbian is not of similar quality to Thiago Silva where you could even take a 36 year old Silva and expect sturdy performances from him.
Everton needs an instant fix and there are other options in the market like Gleison Bremer to look at.
