Today’s game between Everton and Crystal Palace could be an audition of sorts for Wilfried Zaha to convince Carlo Ancelotti.
This is not a transfer article but it will cover whether Wilfried Zaha to Everton can happen or not. This summer, the Ivorian has been once again linked with a move to Goodison Park. Today Crystal Palace host the Toffees at Selhurst Park which gives Carlo Ancelotti a chance to closely look at Wilfried Zaha.
A lot has been said over the past weeks about Everton being in the market for a winger. Hirving Lozano, Leon Bailey and Wilfried Zaha have been evergreen players linked to the Merseysiders. Roy Hodgson has also admitted that Zaha could leave if a right offer arrives at the table.
At this moment, Everton seems a very strong and balanced side, especially the starting eleven. Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin wreaking havoc upfront while James Rodriguez sparkling magic through his technical brilliance.
Allan, the shield which screens the back four and Abdoulaye Doucoure, the tank of energy and power. In such a team which is firing at all cylinder, a place for Wilfried Zaha may be difficult to find.
Carlo Ancelotti has carefully chosen his players with each player given a role that complements the team and other players making it a self-sustaining fruitful system. Today’s game is of utmost importance to Wilfried Zaha.

He is itching to seal a move to a club that is either playing in Europe or has European ambitions. Everton fit into the second bracket and from what is being exhibited so far, the Toffees have real determination to do something big this year.
Of course, there are some deficiencies in the central defence but on the offensive front, the team looks complete. Today, Wilfried Zaha will have the chance to show what more Everton need to be a super-dominant force.
If there is any way Wilfried Zaha enters the team that is by sacrificing Andre Gomes. This could also kick off a domino effect that could see roles change, formation change. But, for that too happen Carlo Ancelotti must be fully convinced that Zaha brings more to the table than what will have to be taken off after his arrival.
Wilfried Zaha can play as a winger, as a centre forward and as a secondary striker. Richarlison is threatening on the left and those exquisite, defence splitting balls of James Rodriguez from right means Zaha cannot occupy the wings. The 27 year old can play behind DCL and supplement as a secondary striker and also change roles with Rodriguez as the Colombian often likes to drift inwards in a No.10 position.
Crystal Palace will rely heavily on Wilfried Zaha and if he is able to carry the team and impress Ancelotti, a move to Everton may not be far. This is an opportunity for Wilfried Zaha to seal a move and prove that he is worth the £30 million that Crystal Palace is demanding for him.
I am not saying that all hopes will hinge on today’s game but watching Zaha close and not on a TV screen will give Ancelotti a better idea. Probably a couple of words after the game can also do the trick.
Can Wilfried Zaha convince Carlo Ancelotti that he is the final piece in the jigsaw of the Everton overhaul?
