Everton target Gleison Bremer is set to have contract negotiations at the turn of the year as clubs encircle.

Everton were facing one of the worst injury crisis in mid-September with two of their four centre backs ruled out due to injuries. Mason Holgate was out for two to three months with a toe injury and Jarrad Branthwaite sidelined for at least a month. There were cries from the supporters to bring in reinforcements at the back.

Since then the flurry of transfer links started to emerge. Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma and Jean-Clair Todibo were the most talked out names. There was another centre back who was associated with a move to Goodison. Torino defender Gleison Bremer is another transfer target and the Toffees did look into the possibility of signing the Brazilian.

The 23 year old moved to Torino from Atletico Mineiro in 2018 and has gradually instated himself as a mainstay in the Granata defence. Bremer has a deal till 2023 at Stadio Olimpico di Torino and pockets an annual salary of €500,000.

A recent report via Football Italia claimed that the 23 year old is open to moving to Everton in the January transfer window. The Torino hierarchy is aware that Bremer is attracting a lot of attention and he will have to be given a bumper increment in wages to ward off interest from clubs such as Everton.

The Italian club is expected to begin the contract negotiations at the turn of the year and will be hoping to tie him down to a new deal.

Bremer’s exploits with Torino have been eye-catching and in order to tie him down to a new deal, Torino will have to table an excellent and undeniable contract. As per Calciomercato, Torino value Bremer at €15 million.

Everton and Fulham remain keen as per the report and a transfer attempt from either side cannot be ruled out.

Talking about the Toffees, the defence has looked shaky lately. However, Ancelotti now has a full strength central defence and as many as five centre back options to choose from.

New signing Ben Godfrey remains untested in central defence, so it looks unlikely that the Royal Blues will seriously consider making a bid for Gleison Bremer. Unless there’s a departure, I don’t see any centre back arriving at the club.
