According to reports today Everton are considering a January loan move for Manchester United winger Daniel James.

In a slow week without any Premier League games and with a January transfer window looming, there are more and more reports popping up linking Everton with new players.

This latest story claims the Toffees are seriously considering a possible loan deal for the Welsh winger who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

James was a player who after he first signed for United was hailed as another outstanding young talent to go along with others emerging at the time like Marcus Rashford.

But the Welsh international hasn’t made the obvious and consistent progress that Rashford has done over the past year and he has struggled for playing time recently under Ole Gunnar Solksjar.

Now rumours suggest the Blues might be willing to take him on loan and give him a chance to revive his career at Goodison Park.

James is a talented player who has pace and skill and is a versatile forward who can operate in a number of positions. According to Whoscored, com he’s at his best playing on the left hand side of the team’s attack where he can cut inside onto his right foot.

The Toffees certainly need more pace and quality options in attack if Richarlison and or James Rodriguez are unavailable as they have been recently.

But aside from their usual starting players there, Everton already have a very similar youth team product on their books in Anthony Gordon.

The 19-year-old has been pushing for a place in the Toffees first-team although he hasn’t had much time on the pitch so far this season despite generally impressing when he’s had a chance.

Ancelotti seems reluctant to give Gordon an opportunity to play even when Richarlison was out serving his recent three-game suspension.

Surely it would make more sense for the Blues manager to give Gordon more playing time first before bringing anyone else in.

But there are other players who may be looking over their shoulder at this latest rumour. They will be Alex Iwobi and Bernard.

Neither of these players have managed to force their way into Ancelotti’s team regularly again this season despite several chances. Bernard had a decent match against Manchester United in the Toffees last game and scored Everton’s goal, but Iwobi has been pretty woeful whenever he’s had a chance.

Stories that keep emerging of new forwards the Blues are supposedly looking at will remind them that they have to raise their game a great deal if they want a future at Goodison Park.
