Another transfer story to emerge today has Everton linked with a possible move for an out-of-favour striker, Lazio’s Felipe Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian forward is a player out of favour in the Italian capital and would allegedly be available for a very low fee of around £4 million in January if Everton do want him.
This is yet another story emerging from pretty much nowhere and I doubt the Toffees brass are looking at this player!
Caicedo is a powerful centre-forward who is a strong finisher and pretty good in the air. Would he be the kind of player that might provide the right cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin?
I’m not sure whether the Blues will seek to bring in another centre-forward in January, although Everton have been repeatedly linked with moves for several players.

With a series of injuries to key players in particular at the back with the absence of full-backs, both Seamus Coleman and now Lucas Digne, there may well be renewed pressures for bringing in further options in those positions.
There is an important issue about who would step in if Calvert-Lewin were to be hurt and out for any considerable period of time.
Fortunately so far the England striker has stayed healthy despite the demands on him with constant Premier League games and relentless international fixtures. But if he were to get injured what would the Blues do?
The only other senior alternative is Cenk Tosun. The Turkish striker has never convinced that he can step up and deliver the goods in the Premier League.
Apart from Tosun, the other option would be youth team product Ellis Simms. I think Simms deserves a possible chance but he’s obviously still a raw and very inexperienced.
The changes in transfer policy that might result from Brexit, could radically alter the basis of the club’s transfer strategy as well. It might lead to switching focus to home-grown talent.
Because of this, there could be a move towards signing more experienced players whether up front or in any other position; we will see.
