Watford, AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City have joined Everton in the chase of Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira.

It is pretty clear by now that Sami Khedira’s future lies away from Juventus. The 33 year old is set to enter the final six months of his contract in January and the Binaocneri want to get rid of the German as soon as possible. The 2014 World Cup winner has fallen down the pecking order, featuring nowhere in Andrea Pirlo’s plans. The Juve coach wants to instill a young core which means that Khedira has to depart.

While the Serie A giants are hopeful that a January exit can be arranged, there have been reports suggesting that Khedira may wait to see out his contract until June. The German earns £130,000 a week in wages which seems to be a flush down the drain to Juventus. The Turin based club can save up to €3 million in wages if they can terminate Khedira’s contract in January.

Everton have been the most linked side to the Juventus outcast. The player himself hinted that he’ll be open to a Premier League move if the opportunity arises. He also admitted that he has remained in contact with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho since the time they both coached him at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti wants to reinforce the midfield and add experience in the spine of the team. Khedira is viewed as a midfield veteran and adding him in the Everton roster will boost the team. However, the Toffees won’t find it easy to sign Khedira as competition continues to grow for his services.

RB Leipzig boss Julian Naglesmann hinted at interest in the German whereas Spurs have also been loosely linked. Now, according to Calciomercato, three Championship clubs are also keen on the 33 year old.

Which Championship clubs want him?

Last season’s relegated teams, Watford, AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City are keeping an eye on the German. It is true that Khedira dreams of playing in the Premier League and his dream can indeed come true if he moves to one of these sides for the time being.

Norwich currently lead the EFL Championship table with 31 points ahead of second placed Cherries by a wafer thin margin of one point. Watford are not behind as well, sitting 7th with 27 points, just four points off the top spot.

In theory, all the linked sides are fighting for promotion and if the respective teams continue their momentum in the second half of the season, there’s a very good chance that they’ll achieve promotion. Khedira may certainly end up in the English Top Flight but via the Championship route.

I am not a big fan of Khedira and wouldn’t really like to see him at Goodison Park. Perhaps, a move to Watford, Bournemouth or Norwich makes more sense as he’s likely to have more playing time at one of the aforementioned clubs rather than Everton.
