Lucas Digne captained the side and put in a rock solid display.

Defence:

Lucas Digne – 8

Lucas Digne put in a brilliant defensive shift. Despite the early hiccups from Everton, Digne was one player who looked to make a positive impact. As the likes of Matheus Pereira and Robert Snodgrass occupied the right flank, Digne was there to negotiate. The Frenchman won 9 duels, made 3 successful tackles and posted an amazing 9 recoveries.

Michael Keane – 7.5

Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey were being tested by the intensity of the West Brom attack in the initial stages of the game. Keane made an important clearance from a Connor Gallagher shot as Everton looked shaky throughout the start. Keane made several clearances, six to be precise, as West Brom pressured the backline. He didn’t commit any serious mistakes that could have hurt Everton.

Ben Godfrey – 7.5

Ben Godfrey was trying with all his might to negate Diagne’s strength but at times failed to clear his lines. The Senegalese attacker kept Godfrey and Keane busy, not allowing them a breather constantly troubling the centre back duo with his holdup play and threats. Gallagher was another West Brom player that was creating difficulties for Godfrey.

Godfrey made a tearing run forward in the first half and didn’t shy away from taking a shot but it was deflected on its way. The Englishman was robust and confident about his movements around Diagne. Got stronger after Allan arrived and patrolled the rearguard.

Mason Holgate – 7

Mason Holgate was sloppy early on, giving away the ball to Matt Philipps just outside the Everton goal area. He even picked up a yellow card in the first half. It was a game of two opposite halves for Holgate. He improved drastically in the second half, making four tackles, winning nine duels and having a pass success rate of 93%.
