Andre Gomes, Bernard and Alex Iwobi struggled.

Midfield:

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 7

Abdoulaye Doucoure, as always looked combative and full of juice as he ran forward but much of it was in vain as Everton were shoddy in the final third. In the middle of the park, Doucoure had extra responsibility of offering defensive solidity but due to Everton’s sloppy play, he was caught out. He was brought off for Sigurdsson in the second half as he appeared to have picked up a knock.

Andre Gomes – 6.5

Andre Gomes gave the ball away carelessly in the first half far too many times and was looking underwhelming throughout the half. He made numerous loose passes that were intercepted by the Baggies easily. In the second half, after the switch to a midfield diamond, Gomes was able to redeem himself to a certain extent.

Bernard – 6

After a poor start overall, Bernard looked a little lively in some movements in the first half as he and Lucas Digne tried to create from the left but were let down either by poor passing or poor choice of pass. The Brazilian almost became anonymous in the second half and whenever he had the ball, he struggled to offer anything creative. Was taken off in the 82nd minute for Joshua King.

Alex Iwobi – 6

Alex Iwobi had work cut-out in the defensive half as Everton invited self inflicted pain on themselves. He was too careless in possession and didn’t make first time passes in the final third when it was required the most. He had ample space on numerous occasions to exploit but the Nigerian was unable to take advantage of the space and cause damage to West Brom. Was rightly brought off in the second half for Allan.
