Lucas Digne could lead the side if Seamus Coleman remains sidelined

Defence:

Right back: Mason Holgate

Ancelotti has pressed a lot on how the robust backline has helped Everton maintain a solid away form and often the rearguard that has done well has featured Mason Holgate in the right back position instead of the centre back. Holgate has done well in the right back role, he may not have had perfect performances but he does the required job.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane was termed as inconsistent and even a liability in the backline in previous seasons. How quickly has it turned around under Ancelotti. He is the leader in the backline and has formed a rock solid partnership with Ben Godfrey. The Englishman has marshaled the rearguard and protected Pickford and the posts well. He will have an interesting game against the likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Centre back: Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey has quickly become a household name in Everton households. The Englishman has inhaled the Everton culture completely and has looked like someone who has donned the royal blue jersey for years.

The passionate centre back has eased Ancelotti’s worries whenever there have been problems in the backline. The 23 year old has played as a right back and a left back but has now returned in the position that he’s the most comfortable in and since then hasn’t had a bad day at the office.

Left back: Lucas Digne

The inclusion of Lucas Digne in this lineup means that Everton will now go with the same back four for third consecutive game. Digne was excellent against West Brom and will be hoping to replicate a similar performance against the Blues. The Frenchman may have to cope with Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi who could be starting on Chelsea’s right side.
