Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne played as wing backs

Seamus Coleman – 6

Seamus Coleman last played as a wing back in the 2-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield with the purpose of keeping Andy Robertson in check. Against Pep Guardiola’s men, Coleman didn’t have a man marking job but to provide extra defensive stability as City surged forward. The Irishman did make the job difficult for City attackers on the right flank but couldn’t offer a lot on the attack.

Ben Godfrey – 7.5

Ben Godfrey was arguably the best of the centre back lot, making some crunch tackles without any hesitation. Godfrey is one of the faster centre backs and he demonstrated it more than once against City, closing down quickly and even stopping Raheem Sterling as City looked to counter. Godfrey also made a strong sliding challenge on Phil Foden that looked aesthetically a treat to watch if you are an Everton fan.

Mason Holgate – 6

Mason Holgate has got a lot of stick recently for his unimpressive outings at right back but while playing in the centre back position, the 24 year old did a respectable defending job. As Everton searched for an equalizer, Holgate came off for Alex Iwobi.

Yerry Mina – 7

The towering Colombian was an aerial threat from Everton set pieces as well as also defending well in his own box. Yerry Mina won six duels, made five headed clearances and made two successful tackles. Considering that he has just returned from injury and this was his first game after 18th February, Mina did a respectable job.

Lucas Digne – 6.5

Everton created threat via his corners and free kick deliveries as the quest to find the heads of Mina, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison continued for 90 minutes but was met with minimal success. Digne had his work cut out defensively but he rose to the occasion.
