Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been on Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti’s wishlist since last summer. The Italian manager was hopeful of a reunification last term before Juventus director Fabio Paratici closed the door to any potential exit.

The Toffees went separate ways and instead signed Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure from Napoli and Watford respectively. The midfield duo have been monumental for Everton in the engine room and continue to be the leading faces of the midfield. However, there is room for improvement and the Toffees may eye another midfielder this summer.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

According to a previous report from Daily Mail, Ancelotti intends to reattempt the signing of Rabiot this summer. The Italian knows Rabiot well from his PSG days and in fact it was Ancelotti who handed the Frenchman his senior debut at PSG and arguably got the best out of him.

Several reports in the past have stated that the Bianconeri would be willing to part ways with the 25 year old if an appropriate offer arrives at their table. Perhaps, Juventus’ desire to sign Moise Kean could mean Rabiot becomes a deal sweetener. When everyone’s fit, Everton have a competent midfield but if the Toffees are chasing Europe or playing in Europe next season, a player of Rabiot’s calibre with impressive technical skillsets uplifts the team quality.

Barcelona monitoring Everton target Adrien Rabiot

Signing Rabiot won’t be child’s play for the Toffees. The Frenchman is also admired by some of the biggest forces in Europe. Manchester City have held interest in him. Now, Barcelona are also monitoring the 25 year old’s situation in Turin, as per French publication Le10 Sport.

Georginio Wijnaldum is said to be close to a free transfer to Barcelona this summer but the Blaugrana are keeping tabs on Rabiot as well. The Old Lady are mulling over a move for Paul Pogba and if the Manchester United midfielder eventually decides to move to Juve, Rabiot would leave Turin.

At the moment, no extra details have been provided but this is a clear indication that Everton will have to battle hard to acquire the services of the Frenchman. Another report from Calciomercato states that Juventus are preparing for the departures of Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey.

The Frenchman has a market value of £28.8 million as per Transfermarkt and considering he has a contract at Juventus till 2023, the Old Lady won’t be accepting a lower fee than his valuation. The Toffees may have to spend a considerable amount and also convince Rabiot to lower his wage demands.

Ancelotti is one of the select few managers who have been able to extract the best out of Rabiot and if they reunite at Everton there is hope that the 61 year old can unlock new levels of productivity in Rabiot.
