Juventus are heading into the summer with the intention of a rebuild and several players could be offloaded. Adrien Rabiot could be a part of the exodus and there are several suitors for him. Everton do admire him but there is also some interest from Barcelona.

A separation between Juventus and the former PSG midfielder is increasingly looking inevitable as the Bianconeri take steps to reduce their oversized wage budget. The 25-year-old earns €7 million net per season. As per a report, the Serie A giants have a wage budget of €236 million per year and wish to reduce it to cope with the losses due to the ongoing pandemic.

Rabiot arrived on a free transfer in 2019 but has not been able to convincingly stake a claim in the first team. The situation is improving under Andrea Pirlo but Juve sees this as a huge capital generating opportunity.

Rabiot has been an evergreen target for Everton. The Toffees tried to sign him last summer only to be denied by Juventus director Fabio Paratici. This summer though, the stance has changed. Everton can approach Rabiot but may face competition from Barcelona and other interested sides.

According to Calciomercato, Rabiot’s agent and mother Veronique Rabiot has had conversations with the Barcelona hierarchy to explore the possibility and feasibility of a transfer. The Catalans are in a difficult financial situation and want to use all their available resources to sign Erling Haaland or another mega signing while targeting free transfers for other areas that need reinforcements.

Juventus and Barcelona have an amicable business relationship as the clubs sanctioned a part exchange deal of Arthur and Miralem Pjanic hence the report suggests a favourable outcome is possible for Barca and Rabiot. Andrea Pirlo and Paratici admire Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele. Though the Blaugrana want to renew Dembele, Griezmann’s future remains uncertain.

At the moment an operation with Barcelona remains extremely challenging which could be a boost for the Merseysiders. The Frenchman was one of the top emerging talents at PSG when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge and the Italian eventually handed him the senior team debut. The technical midfielder impressed the PSG faithful and was destined to be one of the greats to wear the Paris blue.

However, a breakdown in relations with PSG saw him leave the club and ever since he has failed to reach the same levels of productivity. A reunion with Ancelotti could do the trick as the 61-year-old was successful in unlocking the best of Rabiot.

Any offer in excess of £17 million pounds will be considered as a good offer and Everton could well be in the position to offer that money as Farhad Moshiri aims to back the manager this summer too. The sales of Moise Kean, Jonjoe Kenny and maybe even Bernard could generate extra cash that could be utilized for player arrivals. It remains to be seen how Rabiot’s future unfolds.
