As we wait for the result in tonight’s match at Aston Villa, Everton are now being linked with the Croatian forward Josip Brekalo.
Everton are in the market for more forward talent and Brekalo is the latest one to be mentioned as a possible target of Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti.
The Croatian is playing in the Bundesliga with Wolfsberg at the moment and the Daily Express are claiming the Blues are monitoring the 22-year-old. But according to this report they will face competition from several other clubs for the highly rated player.
Brekalo is an interesting player, a very versatile forward with pace and excellent technical skill who has played right across the front line both wide and centrally. He’s had a good season netting seven goals and three assists to boot.
At 22 he’s a young player and has time to improve even further and generate more profit if sold on later, so he fits the profile of the type of player Brands in particular likes.

However, he is a right-footed player who is probably at his best playing on the left and Everton are more interested in left-footed right-sided type.
The Toffees do need more pace, creativity and goals up front and a host of wide and forward players have been mentioned such as Leon Bailey, Ivan Toney and even Gareth Bale!
The Croatian would seem a pretty good fit for ther kind of player the Blues do need, mind you plenty do. He can play on either flank and offers creative ability and goalscoring threat.
But Wolfsburg are currently looking at qualifying for the Champions League and so that makes any move to Goodison Park less likely.
And if he does leave Germany it would seem more likely to be another club in the top competition who would secure his signature.
