The endless list of possible managers to take over the Toffees features Nuno Espirito Santo, David Moyes, Paulo Fonseca, Rafael Benitez, Ralf Rangnick, Christophe Galtier and many others. Everton director of football Marcel Brands reportedly received as many as 40 enquiries for the vacant role in the blue half of Merseyside.
The summer transfer window officially begins from today but Everton’s focus is to appoint a manager first before diving into the transfer market. Everton have previously been linked to several names, some looking like serious links while others a product of the rumour mill.
This is going to be one of the biggest summers for the Royal Blues as they not only have to appoint a new boss but also give him the players he wants and strengthen the team that needs surgery. Areas such as right back and flanks need immediate attention.
The biggest question remains who will replace Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout? Nuno Espirito Santo was presumed to be a front runner for the job with Everton also holding talks with the Portuguese manager. The former Wolves manager was the bookies’ favourite to take over at Everton but as per The Telegraph report, Santo is edging closer to Crystal Palace and he could be named as the next Eagles manager by this weekend.
Could Christophe Galtier be the next Everton boss?
Christophe Galtier has been in the mix for Everton job despite having an agreement in principle to join OGC Nice after leaving LOSC Lille, guiding them to their first Ligue 1 title since 2010-11 season. Former Lille Sporting director Luis Campos spoke to Sky Sports and has tipped Galtier to coach in England.
"Christophe has all the qualities to coach in England, technically he is very astute and is extremely detailed in his planning when preparing a team. He likes a 4-4-2 system, which would fit with the Premier League and he is a fantastic motivator in the dressing room. He likes to build a side with quality and youth, he is someone that can develop a team ethic, and he is also a fantastic human being. (via Sky Sports)"

Updates on Everton striker Moise Kean
Away from the manager circus, Everton and PSG continue to negotiate for Moise Kean. The Ligue 1 side want to take the Italian back on loan instead of signing him permanently. The Merseysiders have put talks on hold and will only take a decision when they appoint a new manager.
Everton want around €40 million for Kean but the French team are pushing for another loan deal. The 21 year old is happy in Paris and as per report, wishes to stay in the French capital. Juventus have also been linked with a move for Kean.
Everton tracking Chris Wood
The Toffees may need a new striker to act as backup for Dominic Calvert-Lewin should Kean depart. Daily Mail state that the Burnley striker is wanted by Everton, West Ham United and Aston Villa. Even though the Clarets would ideally like to keep New Zealand forward, an offer of £25 million could get Burnley interested.
The report states that the Royal Blues
are keeping a track of Wood but their first priority will be to sign a new manager to take over the reins after Ancelotti left the job on June 1st, 2021. Wood has been at Burnley since 2017 and has scored 50 goals in 144 appearances.
