What Can He Offer To Everton

Everton needs a successor for their longest serving player, Seamus Coleman. Denzel Dumfries has been a rumoured transfer target for Everton for quite some time now. It will be interesting to see how much his current club, PSV Eindhoven will demand after such stellar performances by him in the 2020 Euros.

With the manager role still vacant at Everton, there is no doubt that any manager would love to have a player like Dumfries at the club, ready to go and hence Everton should look to seal the deal for him as soon as possible as there will be more suitors for him once the European Championship ends in July.

The Toffees have Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny as the two right back options but confidence doesn’t run high in Kenny, increasing the dependence on Coleman. Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey filling in whenever needed, but both of them aren’t natural right backs. Hence, the move for Dumfries is a logical one and a one that should be completed before Euro 2020 ends.

Dumfries completes 0.8 dribbles per 90 and 1.1 key passes per 90, Coleman on the other hand completes 0.8 dribbles per 90 and 0.7 key passes per 90. Standing at 6 Feet and 2 Inches, Dumfries wins 2.6 aerial duels per 90 which is a big upgrade on Coleman’s 0.4 aerial duels won per 90.

However, when it comes to passing accuracy, Coleman boasts an 83.2% pass completion rate whereas Dumfries completes 76.6% of his passes, an attribute that can be improved. However, Dumfries is 7 years younger than Coleman who is 32 years old and hence Dumfries can thrive under the right guidance at Everton.

Only time will tell whether Dumfries will be a member of the Everton squad or not for the upcoming season. But a move away from PSV looks imminent now after such an excellent Euro 2020 campaign so far.
