Everton right to refuse new loan deal for Kean

In a busy week of news and stories Everton have apparently ruled out considering another loan move this summer for striker Moise Kean.

This is the right decision and one I was hoping Everton would make. If PSG or anyone else want the Italian forward then they should be prepared to pay up front for him.

Kean has been on loan in Paris for the whole of last season and it seems he would like to stay there having enjoyed a solid campaign, but the French club don’t seem so sure and would prefer to take him on loan again and see how he gets on next season before committing.

The Blues are though not ready to go down that route again this season and so Kean is returning to Merseyside to prepare for the new Premier League campaign, uncertain of his future.

He doesn’t seem much interested in playing for the Toffees again after all the problems and struggles he had settling into life in England last year.

So it would appear best for both him and the club if he could move on this summer. Everton need additional funds to pay for new arrivals given all the financial constraints they are under and Kean is the most obvious option in terms of a player that the club could sell for a good profit.

New manager Rafa Benitez is it seems also behind this decision as he continues to get to know his new squad, work out his transfer priorities and prepare for the season.

According to reports he doesn’t want to lose the 2019 signing without getting a fee he can re-invest, especially with Brazilian forward Richarlison now away at the Olympics until mid-August.

This whole situation is a bit of a farce frankly. The Blues didn’t include an obligation to buy in last year’s loan deal for Kean, hence this current situation and they’ve also reversed their previous decision not to allow Richarlison to play in the Olympics, which is complicating the club’s pre-season preparation.

So it’s created a bit of a mess and left Benitez with a couple of problems that with everything else he has to deal with, he could have done without.

Anyway, hopefully either PSG or another club will cough up and Everton can get a good fee for him to spend on strengthening the squad.
