Attack:
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: KEEP
There’s no way Everton will be even willing to listen to any multi-million dollar offers for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He’s arguably the most important player on the side right now and Everton are looking to create a team around him. The transfer activity suggests that. Signing Townsend and Gray to enhance the service quality in the centre to DCL attests to the above theory. Rafa Benitez’s sides have burly strikers and Calvert-Lewin is a perfect match.
Richarlison: Keep
Real Madrid’s interest in Richarlison circulates in the newsfeed almost every day. For sure, Ancelotti admires the Brazilian but a move at this point seems farfetched. It will also depend on Richarlison’s desire, whether he wants to continue at Everton or seek other pastures. Last season, Ancelotti convinced the former Watford man to stay for one season but the Toffees’ failure to achieve European qualification might spur the question again regarding his future.
But convincing Richarlison about Rafa Benitez’s project will be of prime importance. Just like DCL, the Brazilian is an integral part of the project and his enigmatic presence can make Everton even more formidable in the final third.
Moise Kean: Sell
PSG are still interested in signing Moise Kean but the Toffees won’t entertain any loan proposals. PSG or any interested team will have to present a transfer offer that meets Everton’s valuation. The player’s desire is also to return to Paris after an extremely successful loan spell last season.
There’s a saying: “strike while the iron is hot”. Kean had an explosive spell in Paris which has seen his stock skyrocket. Selling him this summer can guarantee huge monetary gains which can be utilized in bringing another attacker or reinforcing other areas.
Alex Iwobi: Keep
Alex Iwobi for long has been slandered by the media and fans. To an extent, his criticism is justified when looking at his contributions and numbers over the course of two seasons at Goodison Park. But it also needs to be taken into account that the Nigerian rarely played in his natural role where he’s comfortable.
Under Benitez, Iwobi has played in his desired position in the friendlies, operating as an attacking midfielder rather than slotting on the wings and has had impressive outings. If the Spanish boss intends to keep using Iwobi in that position, the Toffees might finally extract the best from the former Arsenal man.
However, if he’s to be used out of position, his efficiency will be drastically reduced and then it’d be a better idea to part ways with him.
Cenk Tosun: Sell
This is clearly a sell and almost every Toffee supporter will agree with this opinion. The Turk has simply been one of the least impactful players in the last few seasons. Getting him off the wage books will be very important because it looks unlikely that Benitez will trust him to be Calvert-Lewin’s deputy as a number of strikers remain linked.
Anthony Gordon: Keep
Anthony Gordon was loaned to Preston in the second half of the last season so that the youngster can gain playing time and continue his development and maturity process. This season though, the Toffees can count on him as a squad player.
