£16 million rated Everton player wanted by Premier League rivals
Everton midfield looks secure and has plenty of options. Tom Davies is one of the lesser utilized players by Rafa Benitez. The local lad is now attracting interest from Premier League rivals.
Everton have kick-started their Premier League campaign on a bright and optimistic note. The Toffees were unbeaten in the first four games, losing their first game to Aston Villa, mainly because of the ridiculous injury crisis.
Everton’s wafer thin squad has been tested in the last three fixtures as the likes of Domini Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Seamus Coleman have been sidelined. In midfield, Andre Gomes missed the Norwich game due to a calf problem and it’s unclear whether he will be available for the Manchester United clash.
Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are Rafa Benitez’s first choice midfield duo. The dynamic duo has been blossoming in the current system and the team is reaping benefits. Gomes has been Benitez’s go-to midfield substitute and so far the Portuguese has been an effective option off the bench.
Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on Everton midfielder Tom Davies
This has seen Davies miss out on regular game time. The 23 year old has not yet started a single Premier League game while playing just 201 minutes of football so far. Out of those 201 minutes, 185 have come in the Carabao Cup. He has been a rotational option for Benitez.
According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace are closely monitoring Everton midfielder Davies. There has been some uncertainty over the Englishman’s future and Palace are eyeing to capitalize on the situation.
Davies will be on Crystal Palace’s radar next summer and until then he will be monitored. The local Scouser is out of contract in the summer of 2023 which makes his situation very interesting next summer as so far there has been no progress over the talks of an extension.
So far, he hasn’t been a key cog under Benitez. The former Napoli boss was trying to bring Sean Longstaff to Goodison, a player he admires and knows from his Newcastle days. Longstaff’s Newcastle contract runs out in 2022 and the Toffees are said to follow him closely.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, the Merseysiders discussed a swap deal that would’ve seen Longstaff arrive at Goodison and Davies go to St. James’ Park. If Longstaff does arrive in January or next summer, Davies may further find himself down the pecking order.
Rafa Benitez will have the support of Farhad Moshiri in the upcoming windows and Longstaff is still a target in the Everton books. Crystal Palace might push for Davies if Longstaff arrives or if a contract extension doesn’t take place.
