Everton planning a double Real Madrid loan swoop
Rafa Benitez recently revealed his conversation with Farhad Moshiri and hinted at January transfer plans. Mr Moshiri has very deep pockets but due to the Financial Fair Play rules, Everton were restricted from operating freely in the summer transfer window.
After a muted summer transfer window, Everton are looking to spend in January and improve the squad. The squad still lacks quality and depth in some areas. Everton’s injury crisis has exposed their lack of depth and has cost them in important games.
The Royal Blues spent only £1.7 million in the transfer window, signing Demarai Gray. Meanwhile, Andros Townsend, Salomon Rondon, Andy Lonergan and Asmir Begovic arrived on a free transfer. The Toffees are now already being linked with loan moves in January.
Apart from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is also a reported target in January, Rafa Benitez is planning to raid his former club Real Madrid and bring in reinforcements in January.
Everton and Rafa Benitez eye two loan signings from Real Madrid
According to Defensa Central (via Sport Witness), Everton are eyeing a double Real Madrid loan swoop in January. The Toffees are eyeing playmaker Isco and striker Luka Jovic. The report further adds that Everton are eyeing straight loan deals with the Merseysiders willing to cover the entire salaries of both players from January to June.
However, there is a stumbling block in the case of Isco. The Spaniard’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and he is not looking for a short term deal but instead for a three to four year contract. Furthermore, a move from Real Madrid to another Spanish club will be much more likely.
For Jovic, he has had a torrid time since joining Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt. It is now evidently clear in Jovic’s case that he’ll have to leave Los Blancos if he wants regular playing minutes. The Serbian has just played 31 minutes for Real Madrid so far and could be open to leaving Real.
However, the Toffees seem well stacked in the striking department with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Salomon Rondon at Rafa Benitez’s disposal. Even though Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin are currently sidelined and Rondon seems to lack match fitness but when they all are fit, Everton have a lethal attack.
Jovic will find it difficult to get regular game time, so this move would make little sense for the Serbian. On the other hand, Isco possesses exceptional qualities but he could favour staying in Spain.
