With a couple of days to go in the winter transfer window, Everton are moving quickly to make one final attempt for the fourth signing of this month. Everton have made Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek a priority.

The Toffees are in search of a midfielder after Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph suffered injuries that have sidelined them for at least four weeks. This is a huge blow to Everton given their precarious position in the Premier League table.

Everton sits 16th in the Premier League table, hovering just above the relegation zone, four points safe from the drop zone. They are reduced to bare bones in the midfield department and need reinforcements. Everton desperately needed Doucoure’s presence for what could turn into a relegation scrap.

The Royal Blues were linked to Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Douglas Luiz but it appears that the Toffees are going all in for Van de Beek. The Dutchman was a target for Everton back in the summer and they already had an agreement in place with the player but Manchester United refused to let him leave.

Everton reach an agreement with Manchester United for Donny van de Beek

Van de Beek moved from Ajax to Manchester United with the hope of further polishing his game and turning into a world class star he was mooted to be when he was at Ajax. Sadly, his career somewhat stagnated due to the lack of playing time under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 24 year old was keen to move away on loan this summer but the Red Devils rejected any advances.

Van de Beek has just played 380 minutes of football this season and us yet to start a Premier League game this season. Manchester United’s stance seems to have changed as they are now open to let the Dutchman leave on a short loan but want him back for next season.

Crystal Palace were one of the sides negotiating with United for a loan deal and were said to be close to an agreement. However, Everton have jumped in and are ready to compete with Palace for a loan deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have reached an agreement with Manchester United over a loan deal, agreeing to pay Van de Beek’s 100% wages. The decision is now to be made by the player whether he wants to join Everton or Crystal Palace.

This is a news update that will leave fans buzzing given how quickly things have moved. Even though Van de Beek is yet to choose, things seem to be rather optimistic. The Toffees really wants the Dutchman and they have been on his case from the last summer.

Frank Lampard is on course to be announced as the next Everton boss and Van de Beek is a player that was mentioned during the interviews so if the 24 year old does come to Goodison Park, he is likely to get integrated into the team quickly.
