Everton reunion with PSG midfielder on loan is a possibility

Rating of likely move = 8/10 (loan only)

1. Idrissa Gana Gueye

As we have reported earlier, Gueye is on Everton’s radar for a loan move until the end of the season from PSG.

Everton really need a number six defensive midfielder and while Gueye would probably not be a permanent option in this position, a loan move would really suit both parties. Evertonians really loved Gueye’s three seasons at the club after they signed him from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016.

Gueye knows first team football would be regular at Goodison Park and good reception is guaranteed from the vociferous fans. With Everton having used their loan quota for Premier League players, but still being able to loan players from foreign leagues then Gueye would be an ideal fit for a short term deal.

At 32 years of age Gueye is unlikely to be a permanent option for new manager Frank Lampard, but would buy the Everton boss more time in the summer to get a younger and longer term defensive midfielder.

If PSG give the green light for the loan then the only other stumbling block is the fact that Gueye is in Cameroon with the Senegal squad as they are into the semi-finals of AFCON, but I’m sure contact could be made easily due to the fact he is an ex player.

Certainly, if PSG does give Everton signs a loan deal can be done I’d expect this deal to go through more than any other incoming now Van De Beek is a done deal.
