Vitaliy Mykolenko will return to the Everton lineup

Defence:

Left back: Vitaliy Mykolenko

The inclusion of Vitaliy Mykolenko means Jonjoe Kenny missed out. Harsh, right? After a cracking performance against Leeds, arguably his best in the Everton jersey, Kenny will return to the bench should Mykolenko be fit enough.

However, there may be a silver lining for Kenny. Given that Mykoelnko has just returned from COVID, he and his lungs might not be ready to give 90 minutes of intensive football. Mykolenko is athletic and has impressive stamina but if COVID has taken a toll on the Ukrainian, Lampard may bring on Kenny during the second half to ease Mykolenko’s return.

Centre back: Michael Keane

With Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina still on the sidelines for a significant period, Keane should retain his spot in the heart of the defence, especially after a brave performance against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Keane was astute, sound and handled things calmly at the back. The goal he scored will surely be a confidence boost, helping him regain strength after subpar performances all season.

Centre back: Maon Holgate

Mason Holgate and Keane complemented each other throughout the game. The Englishman has to put in a string of performances that impresses Lampard and helps him win back the support of the fans or he might become expendable in the summer.

Holgate and Keane could have a headache in taming Broja. The Chelsea loanee has netted six goals in the Top Flight and is already emerging as a transfer target for several sides, including Everton.

Right back: Seamus Coleman

The rejuvenated Seamus Coleman is a dangerous player. He bleeds Everton blue and the goal against Leeds oozed passion and loyalty. Coleman might not be the fastest or the most technically sound as age wears him down but his experience comes in handy and his passion is infectious.
