It is no surprise that Everton are looking for a centre back this summer. James Tarkowski has already been linked and now Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is also a name that has come up in the transfer rumours.

Frank Lampard is aiming to strengthen a number of positions this summer and signing a new centre back remains one of the top most priorities in the summer. Perhaps, Everton could even offload Yerry Mina or Michael Keane. Mina raises some serious concerns over his fitness meanwhile, Keane is not performing consistently.

Everton are trying to scout and target young players with promising potential who are ready to come to the club and show their talent to the world. Signing younger players also means that they will have a decent resale value in the future as Everton aims to move to a self sustaining model instead of waiting for cash injections every season by Farhad Moshiri.

Colwill is a perfect candidate. The 19 year old is still in the embryonic stages of his senior career and is already making giant strides on the football pitch. The Chelsea man is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town who have an appointment with destiny on Sunday as they aim for a Premier League return by winning the Championship playoff final.

Everton face stern competition for Levi Colwill

Colwill has produced some eye-catching displays for the Terriers which have put the spotlight on Chelsea and what will they do with him next season. Thomas Tuchel is set to assess Colwill during the pre-season and then make a decision over his future.

Everton have been linked with the 19 year old in the past but they are not the only clubs waiting in line for the defender. In fact, according to GOAL, Arsenal and Leicester City have also made enquiries for the Chelsea man. The teenager has 31 appearances to his name this season and has been a core part of the Huddersfield backline. Scouts from Everton, Crystal Palace and other sides will be present at Wembley when Huddersfield take on Nottingham Forest.

The Toffees are going to face intense competition for Colwill. There’s a chance that Chelsea decide to keep him in the first team next season as Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger depart on a free transfer. If the Blues of London manage to sign central defenders, Colwill could be available on loan.

He’s rated at £4.5 million by Transfermarkt but signing him permanently won’t be easy as Chelsea see him as a player for the future. At this point in time, it is just a waiting game for Everton in the chase of Colwill.
