Brazil star Richarlison has made a slightly quixotic statement today on his future at Everton as media speculation about him continues.

The future of the Everton forward has been in and out of the press for several years now as the team’s performances fluctuated.

The Brazilian has hinted on several occasions in the past that he might leave Goodison Park if the Toffees’ can’t meet his ambition and desire for success and trophies.

However, he has especially recently shown what certainly seems genuine commitment and determination to give his very best for the Blues’ cause in difficult and challenging times.

After this last season though and the dreadful struggle against possible relegation, it wouldn’t be a suprise if Richarlison decided he wanted to move on to a new challenge. After all, he is certainly a talented footballer and could play at a higher level.

I think the majority of Evertonians – although they want him to stay – probably wouldn’t begrudge him moving on in this summer window, if he got the chance to play for a side in the Champions League, for example.

As recently as the last few days of the January transfer window six months ago there were stories that French champions PSG were keen to bring him to Paris. These stories have resurfaced again now.

Nothing came of that potential move then and Richarlison stayed on Merseyside for the rest of the campaign, contributing hugely to his team’s ultimate survival with his performances and goals.

Now, with the season over the rumour mill has started up again. One of the strongest links recently was a claim that Real Madrid want to re-unite the Brazilian with his former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The newly crowned European Champions however don’t seem to be interested in making such a deal happen, even though they have missed out on long-term target Kylian Mbappe who is now staying at PSG.

Now, the Brazilian has spoken about his future but he hasn’t really cleared up exactly what will happen despite his statement.

In what he said Richarlison says he has spoken to the manager Frank Lampard and that things will become clearer next month.

We will see what happens next month and whether that means we will be saying goodbye to the charasmatic Brazil international this summer.
