The transfer stories keep coming and now there are claims that new Everton Director of Football Kevin Thelwell may help the club secure the signing of yet another new player: Adama Traore.

Football Insider say that Everton have already made a preliminary move for the Wolves forward who has been on loan at Barcelona last season.

The Spanish giants have apparently decided not to take up any option to sign him permanently and so he is potentially available to other clubs.

Traore is a player who a few seasons ago was being linked to moves to teams like Liverpool and he was one of the most highly regarded attacking players in the Premier League.

However, over the last eighteen months or so he hasn’t been quite as consistent and effective as he was when he and Wolves first broke into the Premier League.

This decline in his form led to Traore moving to Spain on loan last season and while he hasn’t exactly set La Liga on fire, failing to score a goal, he made two assists in just four league starts for the Catalan club.

Now, according to these reports he might well be coming back to England and the Toffees’ are one of the clubs who might be interested in signing him.

One thing that might make such a deal more possible is that Everton have former Wolves Director of Football Kevin Thelwell.

On paper Traore would certainly offer the sort of pace that this Blues’ team needs a lot more of if they are to make tangible progress next season. But is Traore that man?

The idea might be for him to replace Richarlison, particularly playing wide in the left, assuming the Brazilian leaves this summer. That’s something which looks very possible with rumours continuing to swirl about his future.

The Toffees’ are of course also being linked with a host of other forwards, including most recently Tottenham’s Dutch attacker Steven Bergwijn. No doubt, this relentless treadmill of speculative stories will continue over the next few days and weeks.
