Recently, Everton had been linked to Jesse Lingard who has left Manchester United after his deal expired this summer. After Richarlison made a move to Tottenham Hotspur, links to Lingard resurfaced as the Englishman looked for his next club.

From time to time, the Toffees have been named as suitors for the 29 year old. Last season, when his future was uncertain at Old Trafford, West Ham United and Everton were linked to the attacking midfielder. Lingard’s last couple of seasons at Manchester United was forgettable as he struggled to get regular playing time.

In the second half of the 2020-21 season, Lingard joined West Ham on loan where his career sprung back to life as he went on to score nine goals and provide five assists in 16 games. Hammers boss David Moyes unlocked Lingard’s new levels of productivity. Ever since, the Irons have had the desire to bring him permanently to London.

Now that Lingard is a free agent, there have been offers on the table for the 29 year old. There are offers not only from Premier League clubs but also from abroad. He was linked with a move to MLS, With Wayne Rooney’s D.C. United holding an interest in the player. However, it appears that the prospect of moving to the United States isn’t attractive to Lingard at this point.

Everton target Jesse Lingard to choose his next club this week

According to The Athletic, Lingard will make a decision over his future this week and will want to join his new club no later than Friday. The former Manchester United player will not be jetting to the MLS but has a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia which would see him pocket £10 million per year.

The 29 year old prefers to play in the Premier League and currently has a total of three offers on the table. West Ham opened negotiations with Lingard’s camp; meanwhile, Everton have also been monitoring the 29 year old’s situation.

There are reports where Lingard has hinted towards his next club but so far nothing official has come out of the press. If the Toffees are to sign the attacking midfielder, they will have to offer a strong monetary package which could disrupt the wage budget and disturb the financial situation further. West Ham just want him more and sooner or later Lingard will join the Hammers if he decides to stay in the Premier League.
