Everton bid farewell to Richarlison this summer who joined Tottenham Hotspur for a deal worth £60 million. The sale allowed Everton to balance their books, further giving some room to Frank Lampard to make upgrades to the squad. Everton are now looking at Alassane Plea of Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Toffees are still in financial problems and will have to carefully navigate their way through the crisis. Losses of over £100 million for three consecutive years have hurt the club’s finances and curtailed Everton’s movement in the transfer window.

In Richarlison, Everton lost their talismanic presence and an important goal scorer. The 25 year old played a huge role in saving the team from relegation and now without him, the attack looks less venomous. The Toffees need to replace the Brazilian this summer with a number of players looked at.

Armando Broja has been linked to Everton but West Ham have emerged as the frontrunners. The Royal Blues were loosely linked to Emmanuel Dennis of Watford too. Now, Everton seem to have reached Germany in their search for a Richarlison replacement.

Everton eye Alassane Plea

According to L’Equipe (via Get Football News France), Everton are closely following Borussia Monchengladbach forward Plea. The Frenchman is keen to return to Ligue 1 but he also has interest across the English Channel. Plea enters the final 12 months of his contract this summer and there’s every bit of possibility that Monchengladbach will allow him to leave for €8 million.

In Ligue 1, Marseille and OGC Nice seem to be the most likely destinations for Plea. Nice are also evaluating Plea’s Monchengladbach teammate Marcus Thuram. Across the English Channel, Everton are one of many clubs keeping an eye on the 29 year old.

In 33 Bundesliga games last term, the Frenchman netted 10 goals and provided eight assists. Throughout the last season, Plea was able to perform from a number of positions. Plea largely played as a centre forward but used his versatility to operate from the left wing as well as from the right flank.

In fact, he ended up scoring six out of 10 goals last season while playing on the wings. Like Richarlison, the 29 year old is capable of efficiently operating on the left wing. For a fee less than £10 million, Plea might be an option worth serious consideration. Though the forward remains inclined to return to France, Everton must try to attract the Frenchman to the Premier League.
