Everton have received a huge cheque of £45 million for Anthony Gordon, who joined Newcastle United on a long term deal after submitting a transfer request in January. The Toffees are searching for a replacement and are eyeing a deal for Stade Rennais winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Gordon was supposed to be the Everton talisman and help them survive the relegation battle. However, the 21 year old left the Toffees after submitting a transfer request, leaving Everton to hang out to dry. The upside is that EFC has sufficient funds to work with in the winter transfer window as a replacement needs to be signed urgently.

Sean Dyche is set to take over and is already working on transfers. A forward and a winger needs to be signed and the Toffees are linked to a number of names as the clock ticks on. Given the timing, Everton are expected to have a very busy transfer deadline day and work is already being done on certain deals.

Everton have been following Sulemana for a while and they finally seemed to make some inroads with his agents but the talks were in the initial stages. Everton are not the only side who admire the Ghanaian winger as Southampton are also tracking the 20 year old.

The interested parties did receive a boost in the chase of Sulemana as it was revealed that the player is warming up to the idea of leaving Rennais and will push for a move before the end of January. So far no deal has been agreed but Sulemana will make efforts from his end to secure a transfer in the winter transfer window.

Now as per David Ornstein of The Athletic, Everton are trying to sign a direct replacement for Gordon from the money that has come in through his sale. The Toffees have made a verbal offer for the Ghanaian and are awaiting a response from Stade Rennais.

Furthermore, the journalist reported that the French side will be looking for at least a £26 million bid to allow Sulemana to leave. The Saints have already made a bid of £17.5 million but it is unlikely that the Ligue 1 side will agree to such a low fee.

The winger surely adds pace on the flanks. Through his lightning quick movement, he is able to surpass his marker and create space. Sulemana is still raw and needs a lot of polishing but is surely one of the most promising youngsters to watch out for.
