Everton are in a race against time to get deals over the line as transfer deadline day is upon us. The Toffees have been in continuous negotiations to get certain deals over the line as they aim to give Sean Dyche a squad that can fight for survival. Everton have been in the chase of Kamaldeen Sulemana for a long time and may have finally had a breakthrough.

With Dyche taking over at Goodison Park, the priority still remains the same in the transfer market – to sign at least two attacking options to reinforce the attack. A striker needs to arrive through the doors at Finch Farm as the current options have been underwhelming and if EFC are to escape relegation, they will need to score goals in abundance. So far, the Merseysiders have scored just 15 goals in 20 league games, which is the second lowest goal tally in the league.

The departure of Anthony Gordon has further weakened the attack even though the 21 year old was struggling this season, he was still an option that Everton relied on. The £40 million generated through Gordon’s sale will be utilized in bringing in a replacement for him and possibly sign a ruthless centre forward.

The Blues have been linked with a host of wingers but it is unlikely that they are pursuing a deal for all of them. Ryan Fraser, Lucas Moura and Hakim Ziyech are some names that gathered attention in the past few days. However, the name of Sulemana has been constantly circulating on the Everton feed.

Everton see their bid accepted for Kamaldeen Sulemana

The Stade Rennais winger is a player that EFC admire and have been tracking him since the start of January. It was only a few days ago that Everton made inroads with the player’s agents and there was some optimism that a deal could be struck.

Later, a report emerged that Sulemana wants to leave Rennais and will push from his side to get a transfer. This was encouraging news for Everton and all other interested parties as the 20 year old was keen on the idea of seeking newer pastures. The Toffees made a verbal bid for the Ghanian as Southampton also launched a £17.5 million bid.

According to Daily Mail, Rennais have finally come around the fact that they might lose their starlet and have accepted an offer of £22 million from both Everton and Southampton. It will be a huge boost that EFC has had an offer accepted on deadline day, especially for a player they have been chasing for a long time.

However, work is not done yet. With the Saints also bidding £22 million, the Toffees will now have to convince Sulemana to join Everton and snub Southampton. The 20 year old does remain unproven in the Premier League and doesn’t have extraordinary stats to support his case. EFC strongly going for Sulemana and considering him as a Gordon replacement does suggest they want him at Goodison Park anyhow. The final decision will lie in the player’s hands and it remains to be seen if he chooses a move to Merseyside.
