Everton have now been linked with Alfredo Morelos who is set to leave Rangers at the end of this month as a free agent. Morelos has now joined the long list of strikers that have been linked with a move to Everton this summer.

Everton’s financial limitations have been curtailing their squad surgery. The badly managed finances has once again left EFC with little wriggle room in the summer transfer window. Everton have to strengthen multiple positions and when they are on a limited budget, the club needs to think of innovative solutions.

In order to strengthen the squad, EFC will look to target free agents this summer. One of the areas that need immediate attention is the attack. Everton’s feeble attack was one of the major issues for their struggle in the league. The lack of goals put Everton in grave danger of relegation and they only managed to escape the drop on the final match day.

Everton interested in free agents Moussa Dembele and Alfredo Morelos

The Merseysiders need to have another reliable goal scorer on the roster. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is quick and threatening in front of the goal but his poor fitness record limits his impact. The Englishman missed 21 Premier League games because of injury in the 2022-23 season which is not the kind of stat that instills confidence if you are the main striker in the team.

Neal Maupay’s future is also up in the air as he has failed to make any desirable impact at Everton and is now being linked with a move to Salernitana. Sean Dyche wants to sign at least two forwards this summer and if Everton are operating on a tight budget, signing free agents will be a smart, low risk option.

The Toffees have been linked with two free agent strikers. A few days ago, Fabrizio Romano reported that Everton are well informed about Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman will leave Olympique Lyon as a free agent and has been approached by several clubs. EFC have been following Dembele since January and even made an attempt to lure him to Goodison Park in the winter transfer window.

The Merseysiders have now been linked with Morelos. As per journalist Pipe Sierra, the Colombian striker will leave Rangers and there are five clubs who are interested in his signature. Along with Everton, Nottingham Forest are also in the race. Abroad, Sevilla, Cadiz and Fenerbahce are keen on the 26 year old.

Morelos looks set to end his six year stay at Rangers, where he has netted 124 goals in 269 appearances. The Colombian is currently on holiday but is expected to take a decision over his future in the coming weeks. Everton targeting free agents does highlight their transfer strategy for the summer: to make relatively low risk signings and make shrewd transfers.
