Everton face immense competition to land £15.4m Championship striker as AS Roma join race
On the final match day of the Premier League, Everton secured a win and in turn secured Premier League football for next season but as a consequence Leicester City got relegated and are now facing an uphill battle to keep hold of their star players like Kelechi Iheanacho, James Maddison and Patson Daka.
Southampton, Leeds United and Leicester could see a fire sale with some of their top players leaving for Premier League football as the Top Flight clubs look to pluck exceptional talents and keep them in the Premier League. EFC escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth but they too can have a go at players from the relegated sides.
The Toffees are looking to bring two strikers to Goodison Park this summer and already have a list of transfer targets. Players like Viktor Gyokeres and Moussa Dembele are perennial links that have continued to circulate for months now. As the summer transfer window has now opened, new rumours and links continue to emerge.
Everton face immense competition for Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho
A couple of days ago, the Merseysiders were linked with Leicester striker Iheanacho. After Leicester’s relegation, it is widely expected that the 26 year old will leave the Foxes and there are already takers for him in the Premier League. Recently promoted Burnley along with Nottingham Forest and Everton form the trio of clubs keen to sign Iheanacho.
More clubs from Europe have now joined the chase as competition intensifies. As per Leicestershire Live, AS Roma have made their interest known in signing Iheanacho and Daka from Leicester City. Iheanacho has been on Roma’s radar for two years and Leicester’s relegation could propel the Giallorossi to sign the Nigerian.
Roma are not the only foreign club interested in Iheanacho. According to Turkish Star, Besiktas want to bring the Nigerian striker on a season long loan to reinforce their attack. Another Turkish outlet Takvim claims that Galatasaray want to sign Iheanacho from Leicester as they look to bolster their strike force.
A flurry of clubs have now joined the chase for the 26 year old. Iheanacho has only one year left on his deal at King Power Stadium which has got many clubs interested. He is valued at £15.4 million but Leicester’s relgation and just one year left on his contract gives some confidence to interested parties that a cheaper deal can get done. As for Everton, they need to act quickly if they are determined to sign Iheanacho.
