Everton are now close to securing their second signing of the summer after the free transfer of Ashley Young. Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma is close to joining EFC on loan after Everton’s loan bid was accepted. The 26 year old abandoned a move to Everton in January but is now expected to join the Toffees after just six months.
Back in the winter transfer window, EFC pushed to sign Danjuma on loan. The player agreed for a loan spell and even completed the media duties. Then manager Frank Lampard was sacked and since he had played a vital role in convincing Danjuma, the move was in limbo because the Dutchman was no longer sure of joining the Toffees. Tottenham Hotspur hijacked the deal and he completed a move to Spurs.
Everton and Danjuma do not have any bad blood as the Merseysiders reignited their interest in the Villarreal winger. The Toffees were facing competition from AC Milan who wanted to bring another winger after signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea. It looked like EFC would once again fail in the pursuit of Danjuma but this time around, they have managed to potentially win the race, if all goes well.
Everton reach loan agreement for Arnaut Danjuma
According to The Athletic, EFC have reached a verbal agreement with Danjuma over a loan move. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Danjuma is expected to undergo Everton medical in the coming days. The 26 year old has also spoken to Sean Dyche and is ready to join the Toffees for the 2023-24 season. As per Sempre Milan, Everton beat the competition from Milan to sign Danjuma. The 26 year old rejected Milan and is on his way to Goodison Park.
The arrival of Danjuma instantly improves the Everton attack. The 26 year old is predominantly a left winger but is capable of playing on the right flank and is versatile enough to play in the centre forward position.
Demarai Gray is being linked with an Everton exit amid interest from Saudi Arabia and Premier League clubs. In case he departs, EFC have gotten their hands on a replacement who is much more clinical and reliable in the attack. The Merseysiders are also in talks to sign Wilfried Gnonto. Reportedly, the player’s agents are in London to meet the EFC chiefs and finalize the transfer from Leeds United.
Everton finally seem to have gotten their act together as multiple incomings could take place in the next few days.
