After a relatively short period of rumor and speculation, Everton have announced that Adam Aznou is moving to the club from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee. A graduate of Barcelona's youth academy, the 19-year-old joined the German giants in 2023.

The left back is still fairly green as professional, with just 17 total matches (10 starts) and 904 minutes in both Bundesliga and La Liga, along with a two minute Champions League cameo last season with Bayern.

But there is little pressure for him to start right away, with Ukrainian Vitalii Mykolenko serving as a solid starter for the Blues, Aznou can take his time to acclimate to the squad and find his footing, hopefully seeing early time in cup matches as he does so.

But there's very clearly a top notch player in this kid, and the hope is that David Moyes will allow Aznou, who is already capped for Morocco, the runway to earn his place as the season goes on.

Speaking of Moyes, Aznou mentioned that a conversation with the Everton manager was the deciding factor in his choice to push the move to Merseyside, noting that "[Moyes] talked with me, he spoke with me about the team and how he wants me. So I decided directly when I spoke with him. I decided really quickly because of the words he gave me. He gave me confidence, so I decided to sign."

This is quite good to hear, because a lot of the chatter around the club this summer is how hard it has been to convince top players, many of whom are looking for European football, to come to Everton. Sure, Aznou might not be an immediate impact talent, but it is a major get for the club to be able to attract an on-the-rise player at this point in his career.

There is no indication from the club as to whether the defender will join his new teammates for the final leg of their US tour, but earlier reports suggested that he would. Here's hoping we'll see him on the pitch in Atlanta for the Summer Series finale on August 3.
