Dibling transfer will not help Moyes now which is what Everton clearly need

Reports suggest the Blues have already had one bid for the Southampton winger rejected and may go back with another one very soon.

There is no doubt that young starlet Tyler Dibling is a very promising talent and he could well go on be become a top player in the Premier League.

Everton have targeted the 19-year-old and have at least one bid for the player turned down by the Saints, who appear to be ready to hold out for as long as possible and want a ridiculous amount for him, despite the club having been relegated.

David Moyes is desperate to get some wide attacking talent through the door, along with other players in a host of different positions, and Dibling is a name that has resurfaced again.

He joins a number of other players who have been consistently linked with a move to Merseyside before this summer transfer window closes.

The Toffees were said to be strongly interested in Lyon's Malik Fofana, however, he appears to want European football if he is to leave the French club, and obviously, Everton cannot offer this. Another name that has surfaced is Assane Diao, but again, his fee is prohibitive.

There has been a pattern that we have seen through the transfer window where the Blues try and secure top-level talent (such as Liam Delap), and those individuals eventually end up going somewhere else.

This might also raise questions about whether they were really genuine in considering Everton or using the Toffees' interest to provoke other, more successful clubs to enter the race for their signature.

Such a scenario could mean that regardless of what sort of money the Blues put on the table, these players will probably not sign on the dotted line.

So, it might well make a lot of sense for Everton to cast the net wider and, as Moyes has already stated, look seriously at younger talent, especially perhaps in the Championship.

Dibling certainly fits that profile, but apart from whether the Toffees can prise him from Southampton, given the huge fee they appear to want, there is the issue of his age and lack of experience.

He has only played one season in the top flight, and while he showed promise, his numbers were not exactly spectacular.

As the current rather disastrous US preseason tour is underlining with each game, Everton are in dire need of reinforcements across the board, and most of all, they need players who can bring that improvement right now.

But, signing another teenager like Dibling after the club have just recently acquired Adam Aznou, almost certainly won't provide that immediate help. And on top of that, is he really worth a fee around the 30 or 40 million mark?

Staying in the Championship, there are possibly other players, such as Borja Sainz, who might provide a more immediate uplift for the Blues out wide, although it is never certain whether those players can actually step up.
