There were enough rumors about Everton's in Fulham's Harry Wilson during the January transfer window to suggest that the interest was genuine. But the Cottagers rejected the Toffees' bid and Wilson will finish the season with Fulham.

The rumors are already circulating that Everton will return to the table to try and pry the Wales international away from the London club to allow him to come back to Merseyside, although this time on the Blue half.

Wilson has been excellent for Fulham this season, scoring 8 goals and adding 4 assists in the Premier League, and one more of each in the FA Cup so far. It's been a bit of a breakout season for Wilson, who'll turn 29 in a few weeks, as this is by far his most successful top-flight campaign.

The forward has shown goal scoring prowess at other stops, but his career highs (15g, 19a) came during seasons in the Championship while at Derby and Fulham, respectively. This is also the first time he's been a full-time starter in the Premier League.

With a market price of roughly €20 million, according to Transfermarkt, it wouldn't be a bank-breaker for Everton to make the move. But the question is whether or not Harry Wilson would fit into Everton's squad.

If there is a position that currently feels full of options for David Moyes, it's either on the right wing or attacking midfield.

The Everton squad features Iliman Ndiaye (who is better on the left), Tyler Dibling, and Tyrique George (on loan with a buy-option) as guys who can play on the right, while attacking midfield options include Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Charly Alcaraz, Harrison Armstrong, and Ndiaye in a pinch (not to mention whatever Merlin Rohl's best spot is).

It's already difficult for Dibling to break into the squad, and adding Wilson wouldn't make that any less the case. Doubly so if Everton opts to keep George around after his loan spell ends.

That doesn't even account for the possibility of a return for Jack Grealish, who'll be coming off of foot surgery next season, occupying the left wing, another position Wilson could play or that Iliman Ndaiye would command if Grealish does not return.

Ultimately, the overcrowding cannot be solved by adding more players, especially not to give an older player the chance to play over a younger option who'll likely be around for longer.

Sure, Harry Wilson has been good this season, but it's been one year, while the rest of this Premier League experience has been solid but not game changing.

Given the wealth of other needs that Everton will have this summer, bringing Wilson in feels like a luxury that shouldn't be prioritized.
