Everton open to signing Getafe and Nigerian talent for a reasonable fee

Christantus Uche had a breakout season for Getafe in La Liga, and, if the price is right, Everton could be the team that picks him up.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Everton are one of the teams that are keeping tabs on
Christantus Uche. The Nigerian midfielder had a season to remember with Getafe, notching 10 goal contributions in 33 league games for a side that was the second worst in goals scored in La Liga.

This report lines up with others that have suggested that Everton are looking at players who display positional flexibility. Uche is comfortable playing behind the striker as a CAM and also drifts wide to both sides, although he is seen more on the left than on the right.

Looking at the film, it's not surprising why Everton would want Uche. He is over 6 feet tall, 22 years old, and is a muscular player with the ability to push players off. Despite his physical strengths, he does still display some technicality and pace with the ball at his feet.

Uche's skillset should translate well to the Premier League, and considering that he played with Getafe, he would automatically add some defensive skills that Moyes would appreciate.

Looking at the price, Everton could manage to drag him away from Getafe for less than €25 million, which is the player's release clause. In the ideal scenario, Everton would only pay between
€15 and €20 million for Uche, leaving more than enough money available to address the fullback and right winger positions.

If the Toffees decide to pay his release clause, I do think that would be a slight overpay. In the 2023/2024 season, Uche played in the third tier of Spanish football, and his Transfermarkt value before joining Getafe was less than half a million euros.

I do believe, however, that Uche is a player with a lot of potential who has more than enough quality to survive and thrive in the Premier League.
