The 2025/26 Premier League season is over. Everton didn't really improve on their league position or much in terms of points from the year before, leaving many to question how much growth actually happened.
That's maybe a question for another day, one to be addressed in the coming days as more reflection on the campaign takes place.
For now, we need to stop and consider the upcoming season (which will begin on August 22) by taking a deep dive into the squad as it currently stands, considering how it can be improved, and what to do about players on the fringes.
We'll begin with goalkeepers, with defenders, midfielders, and attackers to follow in the coming days.
Exact transfer ideas will likely be laid out in other avenues, although the general ideas (like we need a new fullback) will be addressed.
So, without further ado, onto the goalkeepers.
Who's Here?
Jordan Pickford remains the obvious number one. He's off to the US to be the starter for England in the World Cup, with hopes of returning even stronger for Everton next season.
He just turned 32 and has shown no signs of slowing down, with his new contract keeping him on Merseyside through the 2028/29 season. Barring any unexpected changes, he'll be the man between the sticks for the next several seasons.
Both Mark Travers and Tom King signed multi-year deals when they arrived last season, but only Travers saw any time on the pitch last year. He just turned 27, but is also signed for the same length as Pickford, meaning he's likely to be the no.2 again.
King is only signed for one more year, but he doesn't stand much chance to see the pitch, so it will be interesting to see if he sees out the contract or asks to move to a place he can play.
Harry Tyrer was on loan at Cardiff City last year in League One and may see another loan this year.
Summer Outlook
Pickford and Travers aren't going anywhere, unless the Ireland international makes a push to move for game time. But he's in a decent position where he is, and may appreciate the opportunity to learn from one of the world's best.
Unless Travers or King ask for a transfer or if Tyrer made enough of an impression to step in as the no.3 option, expect the status quo for next season.
They could always add a development player for the youth ranks, depending on what the thinking is about George Pickford (no relation to Jordan) with the U21s.
Outside of any surprising moves, the Everton goalkeeping ranks should be the same as they were in 2025/26 when things kick off in August.
