News broke today that Everton has found an agreement for Hull City's Jaden Philogene for a price of 16 million pounds. With that, there is stark competition from other clubs including newly promoted Ipswich Town, who are working to make a squad viable for the Premier League.

They have also signed Manchester City academy player Liam Delap, who scored eight goals for Hull City last season while on loan.

Philogene is said to prefer Everton over Ipswich, but The Athletic's David Ornstein published a story today stating he will head to Ipswich with a fee of 18 million pounds.

It looks like Hull would prefer Philogene heads there for the greater price as they have already sold center back Jacob Greaves to Ipswich.

Greaves was also an Everton target given the possibility Jarrad Branthwaite may be sold this summer. As of now the young defender is still an Everton player, and the club just rejected a new offer from MAcnhester United of up to 50 million pounds.

This saga with Philogene has dragged on a bit for several days now, and hopefully, this comes to an end this week and fans can know with certainty if this player is coming to their club.

The 22-year-old is an outstanding player with a profile that fits Everton's squad needs. I think he could start right away and be an impact player either on the left or right flank.

We all know Everton struggled to create and convert scoring chances last season, and finding attacking players is a major priority this summer. With the signing of Iliman Ndiaye being a good start, there are still more additions to be made. The club looks to have a proper plan in place to bring in players, including two more signings this summer.

The sooner players can join the team the better with training beginning to ramp up for the senior team. Players returned to Finch Farm yesterday to begin medical checks and baseline athletic testing.
