With Joel Robles on his way out of Everton, Ronald Koeman has reportedly already lined up Eloy Room to replace him at the goalkeeping position.

Earlier today, we shared news that Ronald Koeman was ready to allow Joel Robles to leave Everton. Now, we have a better idea of why.

As per a report from the Echo, the Blues have apparently already lined up Robles’ replacement. According to Phil Kirkbride, that replacement will likely be Vitesse’s Eloy Room.

Kirkbride goes on to write discussions over bringing Room to Goodison Park have already started. It is believed it will cost around £1 million to sign him.

In truth, this is not the first time this speculation has been circulated. Tribal Football previously reported Everton’s interest in the veteran goalkeeper, after he rejected a new contract offer from Vitesse.

In theory, Room will be brought in to provide competition for Jordan Pickford. However, the reality is he is really being signed to provide depth at the position.

More from Transfer Rumors

The 28-year-old has been with Vitesse since 2002, when he joining their youth academy. He was promoted to the first-team squad for the 2008/09 season.

Room finally appeared to establish himself during the 2010/11 campaign, when he played 36 times for the senior team. However, he then felt out of favour and even spent a season on loan with the Go Ahead Eagles, just to play regular first-team football again.

When the Curaçaoan international returned to Vitesse for the 2014/15 season, he had a renewed focus. As a result, he regained the coveted number one spot before the end of the campaign.

In all Room has played 133 times for Vitesse, along with 16 games at full international level. Now, he looks set to bring his experience to England, to try his luck out in the Premier League.
