Everton receive a boost in pursuit of Chelsea star
Everton have received a boost in pursuit of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
Chelsea’s transfer splurge continues as one after the other world class players sign for the Blues. First AFC Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech then RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner. Leicetser City’s Ben Chilwell and Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz are touted to soon follow the same path and join Chelsea next season. However, acquiring the services of the German wizard won’t be easy. The Bundesliga side is demanding £90 million for Havertz whereas the Blues are unwilling to pay such a huge amount as they risk attracting FFP punishments.
In order for Chelsea to continue their exuberant spending, the Blues will have to offload players and generate funds from their sale. A number of Chelsea players are touted to leave next season, namely: Michy Batshuayi, Pedro, Willian, Ross Barkley and Kurt Zouma. While Willian and Pedro will leave on free transfers after seeing out their current contract, the club hierarchy hopes to get adequate sums for the remaining players.
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea will listen to offers for monster defender Kurt Zouma. Everton and Tottenham Hotspur both are keen on the 6 feet 2 inch centre back and could enter a transfer battle. However, it is a huge boost that Chelsea are open to the idea of selling the Frenchmen, hence, convincing Chelsea won’t be a major hurdle for the Toffees. The only obstacle will be Spurs, who are also planning to launch a bid. Jose Mourinho is a big Zouma fan and has requested the North London club to sign the 25 year old.

Kurt Zouma is no stranger to Everton and Goodison Park. The solid centre back spent last season on loan at Everton and racked up impressive performances all-round the season. In 32 games that he featured for the Merseysiders, he helped the team to keep 10 clean sheets. At 25, Zouma is still entering his prime and is one of the most physically robust defenders in the league.
The Toffees are also in talks to sign Thiago Silva who is an experienced veteran, but Kurt Zouma presents the option to stay at Finch Farm for a longer time than Silva. Though, the club board may have to splash £25 million for signing the Frenchman.
