Ben Godfrey will play in the left back role in the absence of Lucas Digne.

Defence:

Right back: Seamus Coleman

Seamus Coleman has had periods of play where he’s been excellent and then there have been phases where his niggles have troubled him. The quest to find a Coleman successor has begun with a lot of enquiries and movement expected in the summer. Mason Holgate has done a fantastic job when the Irishman was absent but with a traditional right back available, Ancelotti would prefer Coleman. Maybe, for the game against Leicester, Holgate could return to the right back position.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane scored a thumping header at Wolves, helping Everton to walk away with all 3 points but his defensive contributions cannot be neglected. He has been the bedrock of the team defence this season and very seldom has he disappointed. He is undoubtedly one of the best English centre backs in the league and if the Toffees are to progress to the next round of the FA Cup, Keane’s solid defensive contributions will be essential.

Centre back: Mason Holgate

Mason Holgate has played more games at right back than at centre back, his natural position, this season. Holgate’s defensive acumen tops everyone when he’s in good shape and correct frame of mind. At times, we have seen him falter and lack sharpness but recently, he’s able to trust his instincts and put up a good display.

Left back: Ben Godfrey

Lucas Digne and Niels Nkounkou are out for this tie, so you turn to your most versatile player in the squad, Ben Godfrey. The former Norwich City man has been spectacular in the left back role. He might not have the attacking prowess of Digne but the rigidity he offers covers up for everything. Moreover, this formula has yielded productive results for Everton.
