Domenico Berardi

A goal scorer in Italy’s 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland and a player who could be key to the Gli Azzurri if they want to assert themselves back as one of the premiere European national teams. The Italian national team is rebounding after a painful few years, with the most painful moment being failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, which was the first time in 60 years that the Italians hadn’t featured in a World Cup.

Domenico Berardi is a player that has gone under a lot of people’s radar, except football hipsters, but he is finally starting to get the respect that he deserves. The 26-year old has been on fire for Sassuolo and is one of the key contributors to the I Neroverdi’s success in this Serie A campaign.

Berardi has scored 11 goals and registered four assists, he’s a winger who loves scoring goals, something Everton have been crying out for this season. The Italian shoots 3.4 times per game, with 1.9 being from outside the penalty area, which may seem like a negative, but the Toffees are also crying out for somebody who can score those long range strikes, with James Rodriguez and Gylfi Sigurdsson arguably Everton’s only two players who can consistently get a shot on target from outside the box.

For someone whose game revolves more around scoring goals, Berardi isn’t afraid to create for others, with the winger playing two key passes per game in the Serie A. He wouldn’t come cheap though, with Berardi valued at £27m on TransferMarkt, it could mean that Everton have to shell out between £30-40m, but it could be a worthy pricetag, especially if the Toffees can receive their initial valuation for fellow Italian Moise Kean.
