Lucas Vazquez is attracting a lot of interest from various clubs in Europe as he is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season. Everton are one of the teams linked to the Spaniard but in no capacity are the leaders in the chase.

Vazquez has failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid and it is likely that a renewal won’t take place. Coping with the financial consequences of the pandemic, Los Blancos asked Vazquez to take a salary cut of 10% in the new contract but the Spaniard insisted on a raise in the annual salary. The 29-year-old felt that he was on a low contract for years and deserves a raise for his services and performances.

The failure to reach a common ground means that Vazquez is now seeking new pastures and a number of teams have already registered an interest or had conversations with the player’s entourage.

From Italy, Napoli and AC Milan have shown interest in the 29-year-old. Napoli search for a right-back as Elseid Hysaj is set to leave Diego Armando Maradona Stadium as a free agent. Vazquez is well capable of playing in that role. Milan on the other hand want a player who can fill in as a right-back if needed and also provide quality on the flanks.

From the Premier League, Everton and Leeds United were constantly linked. In fact, one report suggested that Everton were ahead of some teams in the chase because they had asked about the player and established a communication channel. Vazquez reportedly looks keen to move to the Premier League and more English clubs are now joining the chase.

Everton target Lucas Vazquez is also eyed by Manchester United

According to Calciomercato, Manchester United and Chelsea have joined the long list of suitors interested in acquiring the services of Vazquez. Manchester United are also on the hunt for a player capable of playing on the right side but Chelsea have frightening squad depth especially in the attack so a move to Stamford Bridge looks unlikely.

However, Bayern Munich reportedly leads the race to sign the soon to be a free agent. The Bavarians are offering him an annual salary of €3.5 million and a four-year contract. Vazquez has tremendous versatility and can mould into the role he’s asked to play. The right-back, right winger or even right midfield, Vazquez has returned with impressive performances in each position.

Surely, with the qualities and the European level experience Vazquez brings, he would be an asset for any club. However, Everton is loosely linked and may find it very difficult to win his signature by beating the likes of Bayern Munich or Manchester United. Even if the Toffees miss out on the 29-year-old, there are several right-sided players to keep track of.
