Everton fans have heard of Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze. The winger has been loosely linked to the Toffees before the January transfer window but it all proved to be a product of the rumour mill.
This season, Chukwueze produced half-decent numbers with five goals and eight assists in 40 games. Now, these numbers aren’t over the roof but there is a lot of potential in the 22-year-old. The Nigerian has risen through the ranks at Villarreal after arriving from Nigeria in 2017.
Chukwueze was also an important part of Yellow Subramines’ UEFA Europa League run, playing 11 games and registering five-goal contributions. The 22-year-old is a dangerous attacker with salivating pace. He’s just raring to go with his engines revving at full horsepower.

His stats are a testament to attacking abilities. Chukwueze averages 3.41 dribbles per 90 minutes which put him in the top 5% of players in La Liga. The 22-year-old registers 9.58 carries per game putting him again in the top 5%. Chukwueze is direct and always is on the lookout to get into the opposition box, so he has an average of 6.43 touches in the penalty area per game.
Chukwueze has a market value of £18 million (Transfermarkt) but reportedly his release clause stands at £80 million. There’s no way Villarreal will let go of their gem for a cheap price.
The Nigerian has all in his locker that Everton lacks: Pace, directness, and ability to impact the final third. However, breaking the bank for him who is still in the developmental stages of his career is a risky plan. If Marcel Brands can bring his asking price down, Chukwueze should be considered.
