Everton’s transfer activity is far from over. The Toffees made three signings in a week but ever since the club has not made much progress in the transfer window. Despite reports of interest in players like Aurelio Buta and Joaquin Correa, Everton are making little progress.

Correa has been mentioned as a target for a long time now. The Lazio man wants to leave Rome and is gearing up for a new adventure. Lazio respects his wish and are ready to sell him but had slapped a price tag of €40 million.

Everton have been struggling to offload players which has restricted their advances in the market to sign due to Financial Fair Play restrictions. Rafa Benitez has addressed this issue, stating that even though he wants to improve the side, the club’s hands are tied as they need to be careful with their spending.

As far as Correa’s news is concerned, reports emerging from Italy have always credited Everton with interest but there hasn’t been any substantial development in favour of the Merseysiders. In fact, Inter Milan also hold concrete interest as they evaluate several attacking targets.

Everton pressing in their attempts to sign Joaquin Correa

According to Get Italian Football News, Everton are ‘pressing’ to sign Lazio man Correa. The Nerazzurri’s interest has substantially increased in the last few days but they haven’t made an official approach for the 26 year old.

On the other hand, Everton are very much in the race and are open to investing a handsome amount in signing Correa. However, to Everton’s displeasure, Correa prefers Inter Milan as it gives him a chance to reunite with Simone Inzaghi, a coach he has worked with for three years. However, with a concrete push coming from the Royal Blues, anything is possible.

Nerazzurri and the Toffees are also looking at Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne. For Inter, Insigne presents a cheaper option and if they decide to sign the Italian, the Toffees’ chase for Correa will get a lot easier. Benitez’s side also faces competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Correa.

Amidst the rising interest, Lazio have reportedly even lowered the asking price to €30 million as the Biancocelesti push to raise funds. Spurs director of football, Fabio Paratici, admires Correa and wants to bring the Argentine to London. Everton are looking to sign an attacker and it seems Correa is one of their top targets.
