Transfer rumours are the top news in football right now and Everton are a team looking to buy new players since they survived relegation. Everton’s manager Frank Lampard will be pursuing new talent all month and his connections to the league from his playing days give the Toffees a huge leg up. The latest player that has caught Lampard’s eye is Leeds United star, Jack Harrison.

Harrison is a balanced winger who was consistent for a struggling Leeds club this season. The 25-year old attacker transferred to Leeds in 2021 for a price of about £14 million and looks to be on the move again this summer. His value currently stands north of the £13.5 million mark. In the event of Richarlison leaving, Harrison could be considered a viable replacement. The Brazilian has been linked to Bayern Munich and Arsenal. Even though the Toffees have adequate firepower on the flanks, losing a top player would put Everton into action in the transfer market.

Everton are reportedly heavily pursuing the Englishman along with Newcastle United and Tottenham.

How can Jack Harrison fit in the Everton side?

Harrison had the second most goals for his club this season and would fit well with the Everton squad. Harrison would fit the mould and compete with the likes of Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon in the team.

Harrison played in 35 of the 38 matches for his club this year and scored eight goals during that span. He is extremely durable and aggressive. The Englishman is one of the best in the premier league at providing pressure to the opposing backfield and positioning himself for scoring chances.

The 25 year old is an extremely hardworking winger. Wingers often forfiet their defensive duties as they wander forward but Harrison is not of the same breed. Despite being a winger, he regularly tracks back his opponents and pressures them into mistakes to win the ball back.

Despite being a wide player, Harrison registers 1.81 blocks and 1.91 tackles per game. His industrious nature reminds us of Richarlison who himself works hard and makes defensive contributions through pressing.

Everton had a bad season and Harrison could be the spark they need to compete once again. Harrison was a key contributor to Leeds’ promotion during 2019-2020 and the Toffees will hope he sparks a similar revival should they secure him this summer. It will take a big offer for Leeds to let go of the 25-year but they should be ready to receive multiple bids for Harrison.
