The Toffees rebuilt their squad under the Friedkin Group and David Moyes for the 2025/26 season. Here’s how all the new signings stack up, with letter grades to match.
Charly Alcaraz: C+
Alcaraz impressed when he came to Everton on loan in the 2024/25 season, so the club opted to keep him around.
Alcaraz has had some good moments off the bench for Everton, and he thrives when the game state becomes chaotic. He’s still relatively young, so fans can expect him to improve for years to come.
Jack Grealish: A-
From a footballing standpoint, Jack Grealish has been good, but in terms of the cultural fit and what he brings off the field, he has been superb.
Ever since he donned the Everton colors, Grealish has been a great ambassador and representative of the club. Although his goals and assists came at a modest amount, he delivered consistent performances on the ball and stretched the pitch in a way that Everton fans haven’t seen in years.
Unfortunately, his Everton career might already be coming to an end because of his most recent foot injury; nevertheless, he has been a joy to watch.
Adam Aznou: C-
The only reason this transfer gets a passing grade is because Aznou is only 19 and can offer a lot in the future.
However, this season, he has been an afterthought. His one appearance for the Toffees was as a substitute in the FA Cup, and he didn’t look out of place at all. It’s disappointing to see such a young and talented player not given the minutes to prove himself.
Tyler Dibling: C+
Dibling gets a higher grade because he has gotten a larger minutes share and has shown more flashes than Aznou. Nevertheless, he’s a piece for the future that hasn’t gotten much playing time in the present.
Time will tell if his signing will become a success.
Thierno Barry: B+
Barry had a rough start to the season, but recently, his form has drastically improved. He has scored five goals in 24 appearances, with four of those coming in the past month or so.
Considering he’s still young and adapting to the best league in the world, his play has met the lofty expectations placed on him when the club signed him.
Merlin Rohl: B-
Unfortunately for Everton fans, Rohl has struggled with injuries ever since he moved to the club on loan from SC Freiburg. When he has played, though, he’s impressed.
His best quality is his versatility, which is every manager’s dream. Although the midfield is cramped with competition, it seems like he’ll always be a consistent option as a starter or substitute for years to come.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: A+
Dewsbury-Hall is the only player on this list with the best rating possible, and it’s because he is the catalyst to Everton’s turnaround. He’s scored some good goals, he creates plenty of chances, and like Grealish, he instantly became a fan favorite.
Mark Travers: C
Travers was brought in to be a decent backup to Jordan Pickford. It’s the type of necessary move that doesn’t bring a lot of highlights.
Tom King: C
King’s signing was identical to Travers in almost every aspect. There’s not much more to say about that, to be honest.
Tyrique George: B
Everton have reportedly made one incoming move in the January transfer window, and it looks to be a solid one. The teenager didn’t feature much for Chelsea this season, and while it’s not a guarantee that his playing time will increase, George provides pace and youth to a team that suddenly has some upside for the future.
